SEG Spark Erosion Grinding is an advanced processing technology that combines traditional mechanical grinding and discharge machining principles. It is mainly used to process metal materials with high hardness, good conductivity and complex geometry. This technology is widely used in aerospace, turbine blades, molds, generator rotors and other components that require extremely high precision and surface quality.
Unlike traditional electrical discharge machining (EDM), SEG uses a rotating grinding wheel as an electrode, maintains a small gap between the workpiece and the working fluid, and generates continuous small discharges in the gap to achieve non-contact material removal. The heat energy generated by the discharge process can partially melt the metal, and the grinding wheel is mechanically trimmed to ensure stable surface flatness and dimensional accuracy.
Main features:
• Processing hard materials: can process materials with extremely high hardness or after heat treatment, such as nickel-based alloys, carbides, powder metallurgy materials, etc.
• Low stress processing: It is a non-contact removal mechanism, which produces almost no mechanical stress and is suitable for precision thin-walled structures
• High dimensional stability: suitable for precise geometric control, good surface roughness and small processing deformation
• Automation potential: can integrate CNC system and automatic electrode compensation mechanism to improve production efficiency and repeatability
SEG is a highly promising advanced process technology, especially suitable for terminal finishing of complex curved surfaces and high-hardness parts, which can effectively improve product quality and life.
