Tumbling is a technique of grinding and polishing the rough surface of a work-piece by using a grinding medium with a small volume and a large curvature. In order to ensure that various 3D curved products can achieve high aerodynamic efficiency through low surface roughness during engine operation. Numbers of vibration grinding media and parameter combinations have been developed for various alloys and geometric shapes, up to super alloy surface roughness 0.4 microns, 50% better than the design value. This technology has been certified by our customer Safran group.
