Quality Inspection / Blue Etch Flaw detection for Titanium

The blue etch flaw detection is also called anode electrolysis bluish corrosion test, which is a necessary inspection process for titanium or titanium alloy. Its purpose is to detect defects for slag inclusions, segregation, structural differences, cracks, barriers, etc. and overheated tissue defects caused by excessive processing for 100% of our parts without damaging any. The steps include electrolytically bluing the work piece and performing visual inspection on part. In the process, the work piece is used as a positive electrode, with a fixed voltage applied for a certain amount time which makes the surface appearing blue, while the defects appear white. This allows us to use color as contrast to detect defects in material. This technology has been certified by the customer Safran and the NADCAP international certification of aerospace third parties.
